KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian professional golfer Anis Helmy Hassan received a boost, thanks to Universal Fitness and Leisure (UFL) and The Golf Club KL City Centre (GCKLCC).

Anis received two Power Plate Machines — a technology to enhance fitness and endurance and attested by Tiger Woods, Colin Montgomery, Lee Westwood, and Darren Clarke — in order to improve his performance.

PALM BEACH GARDENS: Colombian Camilo Villegas won  his first title since the end of the 2008 season, firing a two-under par 68 to capture the US PGA Honda Classic by a record-tying five strokes.

Villegas birdied three holes in a row to seize a six-stroke lead with eight holes remaining, then made bogeys on three of the next five before hanging on, sinking a 15-foot birdie at the 18th to finish on 13-under 267.

"It's never as easy as you think," Villegas said.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's seasoned professional Danny Chia (pic) was two-under-70 for the day after playing 10 holes in the second round play. The top-ranked Malaysian now has a three-under total after finishing with a 71 in the first round yesterday.

Sasidaran, who was the best Malaysian after the first round yesterday, was one-over for the day after 13 holes.

PEBBLE BEACH (California): Defending champion Dustin Johnson birdied his last five holes for an eight-under 64 this morning to seize the first-round lead in the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

In all Johnson had 10 birdies on the par-72 Pebble Beach layout, one of three courses in use for the tournament along with the par-72 Spyglass Hill and the par-70 Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula.

BERLIN: German tennis legend Boris Becker said this morning he could sympathise with golf great Tiger Woods, who has announced an indefinite break from professional sports after admitting to adultery.

Becker, who went through a high-profile divorce in 2001 after it emerged that he had fathered a child with another woman during a brief tryst in a London restaurant, said he was familiar with a media maelstrom over sex.

NEW YORK: Elin Nordegren (left), the Swedish model who married Tiger Woods in 2004, will divorce the billionaire golf star following the sex scandal that has halted his career, according to media reports.

ABC News, NBC News and People magazine, all citing unnamed sources close to Nordegren, reported that she will split with Woods following his admission of infidelity and reports that at least 14 women had affairs with the golf icon.
