Selangor palace first to be ISO certified

Monday, February 8th, 2010 13:32:00

KLANG: Selangor's Istana Alam Shah today became the nation's first palace to receive the MS ISO 9001:2008  when its administration office received the certification.

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, was present at the certification presentation ceremony at Balai Tengah of the palace here this morning.

Also present was Sirim Bhd president Yahaya Ahmad.

The certification served to recognise the efficiency and quality of Istana Alam Shah's daily administration. Its scope covered three important aspects — the management of the Sultan's meals; the administration of the palace; and the management of the customs and traditions of the palace.

The audit was carried out on Dec 23 and 24 last year by two Sirim-QAS International officers.

Istana Alam Shah is administered by 24 palace officials led by the Dato' Pengelola Bijaya Diraja, Datuk Zakaria Abdul Rahman.

Zakaria said the sultan had often stressed on efficient and systematic documentation when it came to palace matters.
