Annoyed by no True Fitness class
LIM, a member of the True Fitness gym in Subang Jaya, is unhappy that the outlet keeps postponing or cancelling its activity classes.
"I had signed up for 24 personal training sessions with one of the dance masters, and I was later told he had returned to India on March 23," he says.
Since then, he claims, the classes have been irregular.
"I am very unhappy that the yoga and dance classes have been reduced by half over the last two months.
"I have been a member since 2006 and I have noticed that yoga masters who left Malaysia since 2007 have not been replaced."
LIM adds that there used to be yoga classes daily in all the three studios when these started in July 2006
- with three dance classes and the last yoga class from 9.45pm to 10.45pm.
He says that due to the lack of replacement teachers, a lot of these classes were taken out of the schedule, especially the 9.45pm class, for the year."There is a lack of accountability, responsibility and consideration for members as the management has the right to cancel any class without prior notice.
This causes a lot of inconvenience, especially when one has to rush back from KL, brave the traffic jams, and
after finding a parking lot after much difficulty, finds the class cancelled."
Because of this situation, LIM wrote a letter to the group chief executive officer, Patrick Wee, in Ngee Ann City, Singapore on April 30.
It's been three weeks since and LIM has not received any response or a courtesy call in acknowledgment
of the letter.
"Actually, we had a slight dip of 12 per cent in the number of classes, for varied reasons, including our Indian and local instructors taking leave,"he says.
"While we try to maintain a regular class schedule, it is impossible for us to commit to permanent class timing and fixed class offerings as schedules are dependent on instructors' personal schedules and for reasons, as cited above where instructors leave the country for personal reasons or home leave.
"True Fitness has gone the extra mile to hire local part-time instructors to ensure classes carry on with minimal disruption."
He says last-minute cancellation of classes only happens when yoga instructors are ill or need to take emergency leave - with most times, the reason being the former.
"While True Fitness is sorry for the inconvenience LIM went through, we seek LIM's understanding as these circumstances are unavoidable.
True Fitness' policy is for all staff, including instructors, to stay home and recuperate should they be medically unfit.
This is for the members' interest."The spokesman also says the club operations assistant manager contacted LIM on May 5 to advice that the dance instructor LIM signed up with for personal training was away for two to three months, for personal reasons.
" We would like to assure all members that True Fitness places great importance on our customers' welfare and takes their feedback seriously as a means to further improve or enhance our services."
