KALWANT of Petaling Jaya is upset that he was unable to renew the fire insurance for his three-storey shoplot
with the same insurers.

Last year, he bought the policy from Allianz Malaysia Berhad and the period covered was from Jan 16, 2009, to Jan 15 this year.

"In May 2009, my shoplot in Section 52, PJ, which was rented to a restaurant, caught fire. I filed a claim with Allianz, and received about RM137,000 in compensation.

Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd (Sprint), the concessionaire for Sprint Highway, is conducting the exercise between 5pm and 7.30pm daily until today.

It is being carried out with the collaboration of the City traffic police to ease the evening peak period traffic along the stretch.

ENTRY permit applicants are urged to contact the Home Ministry for security verification purposes before the Jan 15 deadline.

According to a statement, efforts by the ministry to contact applicants of entry permits for foreigners wishing to enter and reside in Malaysia at their given addresses, had failed.

Since applicants could not be contacted at the address written in their application forms, they are required to contact the ministry by Jan 15, failing which their application may be canceled.

She had sent the dress material last month, to a tailor named Devi who operates from a house, and was told that the gown would be ready this month.

AHMAD of Penang feels that he has been "victimised" by a bank which has caused him to be declared a bankrupt.

In 1986, he bought a house in Penang for RM90,000 from the then Bank Bumiputra before it became part of the CIMB Group and spent about RM25,000 on renovation and refurbishment.

In 1993, AHMAD lost his business contract which left him without a source of income and due to his advanced age, he was unable to land a job.

This was clarified by Minister in Prime Minister’s department Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon this morning.

Speaking to reporters at the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Open Day at Sunway Convention Centre here, he said there was a "miscommunication" between the reporter of an online news portal and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the former’s report last weekend.
