She’s got her gym membership back

LISA is unhappy that her lifetime gym membership was terminated without notice.

She had been going to the California Fitness outlet in Sunway as normal in January this year but was shocked when told during one of her visits the next month that her membership had been terminated on Dec 27 last year.

She was told the termination of the lifetime membership was due to her failing to pay the annual fees.

"I signed up with California Fitness, Sunway Pyramid, on Sept 29, 2007 under its Infinity package. I was a regular at the centre until I got busy with work and stopped working out from August to December 2008."

She wonders why there was no reminder to pay her annual fees during this period when she visited the centre.

She is upset that her membership had been terminated unfairly." I' ve appealed to the management of California Fitness twice but to no avail. I've been very upset ever since because I paid a lump sum of RM5,237.40 for
a lifetime membership only to find it has been terminated because I forgot to pay the annual fee of RM176.40."

Having read an earlier Malay Mail report of another reader, June, who had a similar problem with the renewal of
the lifetime membership with California Fitness, she says: "Hopefully like June, I will get my membership reinstated."

A SPOKESMAN for California Fitness says: "We have contacted the member and the matter has been satisfactorily resolved."
LISA also confirms she has accepted California Fitness' offer of a membership renewal and is happy with the outcome.

Comments

My membership with TF going to expire next month, at 1st I am looking forward & willing to renew my membership with TF. However looking at the TF current situation I lost my confident with them and I have to think twice b4 renew my membership. In Subang there are 3 studios but now only have 2 yoga instructors from India based here. Compare to previous year which have 7 yoga instructors and 1 dance teacher.. The number of instructors enormously dropped.
Subang TF is well known as Aunty Club. Most of the classes’ here are for housewife timing. I m not mean TF doing wrong or to offend anyone but they have to think for working people as well. We do pay for the member fees! Why we can’t enjoy the classes like others member? Previously they have 8.15pm, 9.45pm or 10 pm classes. Now all these classes removed. More worst is sometime we rushed for evening 6.30 or 7pm class but they put up the notice class cancelled.. It is really damn angry!!!!!
Beside that the schedule planning here is damn lousy. For certain time of period.. you can see just hatha, hatha, hatha class. Recently Ananda is the hot class.. You can find in the time table most are Ananda class. I don’t understand how the planning is? But do you all really sit down and plan on it? Planning the schedule not mean just fill up the empty slot but should make different type of yoga classes equally distribute in the time table.
Make all these comment not mean to pull down TF image but are to let them know their problems and look into it. Don’t even think members will just keep quiet and take whatever TF give to members. We as members hope the service & quality that TF give to us is worth the money we pay for it!

We members of TRUE YOGA at the Subang & Desa Hartamas branches are also facing the same problem with the services. At the subang branch, In 2007, 2 indian yoga masters returned to India followed by another 2 sometime in 2008. 2 replacement were brought in. Subsequently another 1 yoga master went back. Classes were reduced by 30%. However 2 months ago, another 2 yoga masters & 1 bollywood dance teacher went back leaving only 2 yoga masters to teach in 3 yoga studios. We had a meeting with representatives from the management who request us to wait for another 2 more weeks. This has been the standard answer we have been getting from them. Feeling fed up as the Centre has only 1 bollywood dance teacher to teach in 4 centres and all classes, yoga & dance, are reduced by 50%. We chose them over other fitness centres because their teachers are really Masters & specialists in their respective discipline. This we can vouch.....in the first year of operation (2006). We have requested that they allow us to either: 1. Freeze our membership until the teachers are replaced 2. Terminate our membership with refund 3. the management extend our membership for free for the period when the last 3 teachers left until they are replaced 4. We also ask them whether they are slowly trying to replace them with local teachers but then this will be a breach of our agreement. We signed up with them in the first place is because of their teachers and which they have widely advertised....check their website.

Ya..100% agree w frachesca.. TF mgt are lousy.. really disappointed & fed up with them.. When v voice out our feedback & complain..they will jst answered 'yes, yes, yes.. will take note on that'. But after that TF nvr look into it or take action on it.. Their service & mgt are very very BAD... v r feeling cheated by them as when the time joined they r advertise they hv 100 over classes per wk.. every hour there have class and their class is until 9.45pm.. and that time their main & hot selling point to us is their yoga and dance instructors are frm INDIA.. But now they are started replace the instructors w local instructors…. In such embarrass time.. (not enough instructors, no of classes drop tremendously, class alwasy cancelled) TF sales counselors still keep on persuading us to renew the membership.. What they want to sell to us? What is our confident to them? I think they should improve their quality & service then only come to talk to us!

Yes, I agree with both comments above regards to True Fitness/ True Yoga in Malaysia, especially USJ branch. The paid membership fee still maintain the same but we received degraded quality, quantity of schedule and its services since last year. The Master Yoga/ Dance from India was promoted and promised during initial membership sign-up, but with current shortage situation, True Yoga Subang Jaya is left with only 2 Yoga Master and 1 Dance Teacher from India. Previously the center had 7 Yoga Master and 2 Dance Teacher from India. Many classes/ schedules has been cancelled due to shortage of instructors with out replacement. Meeting between the members and management has been done twice, 17th April at True Yoga Subang Jaya and 25-May at True Yoga Sri Hartamas, to discuss member's great dissatifactions. But the top management (with decision power) was not willing to attend both meeting, instead they send the representative who can not answer/ commit/ provide facts/ iron-out the problems. So, another promises with out commitment was given, and ... never ending empty promises. As well the operating hours for the True Yoga Subang Jaya has been reduced. What a great disappointment.
